Chise's hands stop shaking. That's the whole show. Not battles or revelations, just a girl learning she's allowed to be alive, and the animation, Wit Studio rendering every quiet moment like it matters, makes you believe it does. The pacing crawls, but it's crawling toward something real: a woman building herself back from nothing, one small magic, one trusted person at a time.

A string of attacks has drained the magic from teachers and students at the College, so headmistress Liza Quillyn seals the grounds and nobody can come or go. That leaves Philomela Sargant unable to follow her grandmother Lizbeth's order to leave the school. Locked in, Chise Hatori and her classmates try to adapt to their strange and tense new situation, while Philomela's mind and body steadily decline. More of the painful history of Chise's roommate, Lucy Webster, keeps coming to the surface. As Chise worries over her friends and wrestles with how she herself is changing, the person behind the magic draining may at last be revealed. This second cour continues the supernatural fantasy drama with Elias, Chise and her friends at the College.
