Deep beneath the ocean floor, marine archaeologist Hiroshi Ibuki works on an excavation team searching for clues about how Earth came to exist. What the team discovers instead will threaten everything alive on the planet: a colony of ancient bacteria that glows with light resembling the northern lights. When the bacteria are revived, their aim becomes clear. They set out to remake the world into a place suited to themselves, returning Earth to its early primal state and wiping out all present life in the process. The Aurora is a science fiction adventure film built around a discovery on the seabed that turns into a danger to the whole world.
