A short fantasy film produced by Yasuji Murata, adapted from the Japanese fairy tale also known as Hanasaka Jiijii. A kind old man and his wife dig where their dog is barking and uncover koban, old oval gold coins. The mean old man next door has been watching and borrows the dog to try the same trick, but his hole yields only frogs and snakes in an old pot. After more strange turns, the kind old man, known far and wide as the Blossom Man, brings dead trees back into bloom.
