Season one ended with Touko and Koushi bound to each other in ways neither of them fully understands, standing in a world that only gets darker the more you see it. Touko arrives in a city under attack by the Spiders, a tribe whose members wield dangerous supernatural powers. She has come to hand over the belongings of Haijuu, a fire hunter who gave his life to save her. Haijuu's dog Kanata is with her, along with Akira, the fire hunter who has guarded her so far. When Akira leaves on an urgent errand, the fighting pulls Touko onto a separate path. Haijuu's son Koushi, meanwhile, helps defend the city. He lacks physical strength, but his cleverness has produced several weapons, among them a cannon that calls down lightning on the attackers. The god Hibari views that power as an affront to the gods and moves to stop him. Caught up in the plots of gods and humans, Touko and Koushi fight to stay alive in this fantasy adventure with elements of action, drama and mystery.
