Yokoi finally breaks character and admits she actually enjoys the chaos Seki creates instead of pretending to hate it. The field trip and snow episodes give her room to stop performing disapproval and show what she actually feels. These specials understand that the whole dynamic only works if you believe she's choosing to stay, not trapped by obligation.

Two bonus comedy episodes of Tonari no Seki-kun were made for the home video release and never aired on television. Each came with a different volume of the DVD set. The first episode is set on a school field trip, and the second centers on playing in the snow. Together they give fans of the main series a little extra comedy beyond the broadcast run.
