It sells you a paradise, then makes you watch the sky rain blood over it. Na Sheng walks into Yunhuang with the wide-open face of someone who has already decided this is home, and the show spends four episodes quietly dismantling that, because Taoyuan was always a story people told themselves to keep walking. That's the trick here: the Hmon girl's cheerfulness isn't comic relief, it's the measuring stick for how far the myth has rotted. Legends show up with their own grudges and their own poetry, and none of them are interested in being the heroes she needs them to be. Four episodes is barely a prologue, which is exactly why it lands so hard, it ends before anyone gets to be saved. You go in for pretty fantasy worldbuilding and leave a little wrecked over a girl who just wanted somewhere to belong.
