A high school facing closure becomes the backdrop for something that shouldn't work: nine girls who barely know each other forming a school idol group to save it, and somehow you believe every second of it. Otonokizaka High School sits where Akihabara, Kanda and Jinbo meet, and falling enrollment has put it on course to close within three years. Second year Honoka Kousaka will not accept that. After discovering the popular school idol group A-RISE, she decides to start an idol group of her own, and with childhood friends Umi Sonoda and Kotori Minami she forms μ's to raise the school's profile and draw in new students. The plan proves harder than it sounds. Student council president Eri Ayase firmly opposes the group, and recruiting more members is a struggle. Their best hope is the Love Live, a nationwide contest to find the most loved school idol groups, and with it drawing near Honoka has to move fast. The result is a music and slice of life story about nine girls who turn to idol work to save their school.
