The show understands that the best comedy lives in the space between people who actually like each other. Patricia and Isobelle have real chemistry with their friends, not as a setup for hijinks but as the actual point, which means when Winfred shows up to be difficult, it lands harder because you care that she's wrecking something genuine. The 26 episodes never rush the friendships or the conflicts. A girl causes trouble in a dormitory full of girls who have each other's backs. That is the entire premise, and it works because the show trusts you to enjoy watching people navigate small, real problems together.
Twin sisters Patricia and Isobelle O'Sullivan arrive at St. Claire, a school for girls, where they will study and make a new home. There they meet fellow residents Alison, Wella, Catherine and Doris, and the girls soon join together in a spirit of teamwork. They spend their days playing games and having fun, living side by side in harmony. That peace ends when Winfred appears, a sullen, rude and unsociable girl who wastes no time stirring up all sorts of trouble for the O'Sullivan twins and their friends. Adapted from Enid Blyton's St. Clare's books, this 1991 comedy runs for 26 episodes.
