Emma lives in Grace Field House, an orphanage where life feels close to perfect. The children are fed well, educated carefully, and raised as one large family by their caretaker Isabella, whom they call Mom. They sit tests every day and may play freely, as long as they never wander too far from the orphanage. Every few months a child is adopted and sent away, and no one hears from them again. Emma, Norman and Ray, the three oldest and brightest of the orphans, grow suspicious, and Emma and Norman soon uncover a grim secret about the world beyond the orphanage that they are not allowed to see. What they learn points to a cruel fate awaiting the children and to a hidden side of the woman they love as their mother. Adapted from the manga by Shirai Kaiu and Demizu Posuka, the series is a psychological horror mystery and thriller.
