After a disease wipes out the human colony on the moon, Kyosuke Date and his mother escape to Earth and hide in a cathedral, where she poses as a nun. When dangerous people find them, she stabs him, and she is then killed herself. Kyosuke wakes days later, alive, in the home of a girl who says she is Runa, his twin sister. Runa's soul was split into several pieces, creating flicker girls that the Kirihara Group is hunting. Kyosuke survived because his DNA adapted to the disease, and he can now become a monstrous mutant called the SoulTaker. Hunted by both the Hospital and the Kirihara Group, he fights to protect Runa and to learn why his mother did what she did. The series is a supernatural action horror story.
