Matthias is so far ahead of everyone that the actual tension isn't whether he'll win, it's watching him figure out how to lead people who think he's useless. The comedy lands because he's genuinely trying to help while the entire world operates on rules so stupid that his common sense reads like a miracle. Lurie grounds the whole thing, making the power fantasy feel like it's actually about someone who wants to matter to the people around him, not just be the strongest person in the room.

Matthias is the most powerful sage in the world, yet the crest he was born with caps how strong he can become. The solution: start over. He arranges his own reincarnation, hoping to be born with better fortune. His second life delivers exactly what he wanted: a crest ideal for magical combat. There's just one problem: magic has declined badly in the world he is reborn into, and its standards have sunk so low that everyone views his new crest as a mark of failure. What follows is Matthias doing what he does best: proving the world wrong. The show mixes action, adventure and fantasy with comedy, romance and slice-of-life moments.
