The Tatami Galaxy already perfected its controlled chaos in the main series, so these specials just get to play. Three episodes of the core cast doing nothing in particular, riffing on the same visual vocabulary you already love, discovering new punchlines in the same cramped apartment. It's dessert pretending to be a meal, and it knows exactly what it is.

A college student and his friends Seitarou Higuchi, Akashi, Ozu and Ryouko Hanuki take turns telling stories about a submarine able to move through solid ground. Each teller tries to top the last with a wilder idea. Their tales range from a mission to keep the ice caps from melting, to a campaign against peeping perverts, to a simple fishing outing. The three comedy specials were released on DVD and Blu-ray alongside Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei.
