Torao has a problem: he's a merchant, a profession few people respect, and a weak fighter in his S-rank adventurer party, Blue Ring. When the party catches him secretly spending its money on Garnet, a rookie adventurer group made up entirely of women, they fire him on the spot. Before leaving, Torao warns them, but Blue Ring ignores him and charges recklessly at the Demon King, and the whole party is wiped out. Torao then joins Garnet, aiming to defeat the Demon Lord himself. Their very first job carries a grim irony: heading to the front lines to recover valuable gear from the bodies of his former teammates. As far as Torao is concerned, they stopped being his comrades the moment they threw him out.
