Two brothers swap lives for a day. Neither has any idea what they're doing. The quiet devastation comes not from failure, but from the moment each realizes how little he understood about the other's world, and how much skill looked like ease when someone else was doing it.
Two brothers live by different trades. Umihiko, the elder, earns his living fishing at sea, while Yamahiko, the younger, hunts birds and beasts in the mountains. Yamahiko keeps pressing his brother to exchange bow and arrows for fishing tackle and trade places, and Umihiko finally gives in. Neither is skilled at the other's work, and the next day goes badly: Umihiko hurts his arm and Yamahiko loses the fishing hook. Umihiko is enraged, since even once his arm heals he will never fish the same way without his prized hook. Yamahiko sets out to make things right in this fantasy film set long ago.
