A man with no past and borrowed powers gets dropped into a future that doesn't want him, then forced to be its reluctant savior. The show doesn't let him off easy, watching Ryu fumble through sci-fi cop work while the Fuhrer's backstory slowly reveals what this world actually cost builds something genuinely strange and human under all the slapstick. In 1983, a young man running from the police is mysteriously thrown forward to the year 2050, stripped of his memories and gifted with superhuman powers. Now called Ryu Urashima, he joins the Neo Tokyo Mobile Police Unit to bring down Necrime, a vicious criminal syndicate. While he works cases for the future police force, often in comical ways of his own, he keeps searching for a route back to his own era. Whether he can defeat Necrime and return home, or will stay stuck in 2050 for good, remains the open question in this sci-fi action comedy.
