Alto and Vermeil have chemistry that actually works, their banter snaps, their dynamic shifts credibly as they learn each other, and the kiss-for-magic mechanic stops being a gimmick and becomes the emotional core of how they're learning to trust. The show knows it's built on fanservice but refuses to let that be the whole story; it sneaks genuine character reveals and worldbuilding cliffhangers between the ecchi moments, so you stay for reasons beyond the premise. By the end you're genuinely invested in whether these two actually survive what's coming for them.
SYNOPSIS
Alto is flunking out of Royal Ortigia Magic Academy with no time left to save himself. Desperate and out of options, he performs a summoning ritual that should help him study harder. Instead, he accidentally binds Vermeil, a legendary she-devil with enough power to reshape magical theory itself, into becoming his familiar. The catch: she needs to kiss him to recharge her magic, and she has no concept of personal space or propriety. What starts as a practical solution spirals into chaos. Vermeil's overwhelming presence and affection attract unwanted attention from every direction, especially from Lilia, Alto's childhood friend who's been quietly harboring feelings for him. As Vermeil grows increasingly attached to Alto and protective of their bond, the love triangle becomes the least of his problems. Other mages, creatures, and forces start circling, drawn to the legendary devil now bound to a failing student. Alto finds himself caught between keeping his familiar happy, managing his hopeless love life, and surviving encounters with threats that suddenly consider him worthy of attention.
