Three soldiers hunt monsters made of flesh in endless snow, searching for something none of them can name. Three young women serve as soldiers in a barren, snowbound land left behind by a devastating war. Their job is to search the icy wilderness for leftover members of the Iron Army, unsettling weapons made of flesh that were once human. Gros and the untested Leichte look up to Esus, who is stronger and wiser than either of them. Yet Esus has weaknesses of her own and wounds in her heart that have never healed.
