Li Luo is the young master of Luolan Mansion, one of the five major mansions of Daxia on the Shenzhou Continent. The mansion has declined since its two mansion masters mysteriously disappeared. Li Luo is highly talented and was born with three phase palaces, but his innate empty phase makes practice a struggle. His childhood fiancée, Jiang Qinge, is exceptionally gifted and holds a ninth-grade light phase. Seeing how far apart they are, Li Luo tries to call off the engagement, but she refuses. On his seventeenth birthday he takes a secret treasure his parents left behind and gains the water light phase. The price is steep: his hair turns white overnight and his life is overdrawn. To extend his life, he must reach the rank of marquis within five years.
