Yori's desperation to turn admiration into love is the entire show, and it refuses to let you sit with the comfortable distance of watching from outside. The second half breaks you open because it stops being about whether they'll kiss and starts being about what it costs to need someone that badly. Animation drops frames constantly, but the writing earns every emotional beat so thoroughly that you stop noticing halfway through.

Yori performs at her school's opening ceremony and catches the attention of Himari, a freshman who confesses her feelings afterward. The confession stirs something in Yori, pushing her to consider reciprocating. Then Himari clarifies: she doesn't love Yori as a person, only admires her as a musician.
