These two specials stop pretending Yatterman is a 1977 kids' show and start swinging at whatever was on Japanese TV that week. One is a straight shot at Monta Mino, the morning-host institution whose face was unavoidable in 2008, fed through the Tatsunoko gag machine. The other hands the ticking-clock panic of '24' to the Doronbo gang, which is precisely the wrong pair of hands and precisely the joke. Doronjo, Boyacky and Tonzura get no arcs here, and they don't need any. They exist to be the bit, and the extended runtime lets the bit breathe instead of racing the usual weekly clock. If you grew up watching that trio scheme, fail, and go up in smoke at the end of every episode, this is the show elbowing you in the ribs.
