The heroes you grew up cheering for become the oppressors. Doronjo stops being a punchline and becomes the only one asking if the kingdom was ever worth saving. The show spends its first half tearing apart what it means to inherit a legacy, then loses its nerve and settles into Saturday-morning comfort, but those early episodes where the villain is right hit different when you remember who was supposed to win.

Generations after the first Yatterman clashed with the Doronbow Gang and its leader Doronjo, the Yatter Kingdom is guarded by a new Yatterman. Behind the prosperity, these mysterious rulers force the people into labor, and unrest is spreading. Just outside the kingdom, a girl named Leopard lives a poor but happy life with her mother and her guardians Dorothy, Voltkatze and Elephantus. Then she finds a hidden mural of Doronjo, Boyacky and Tonzura and learns that her family descends from the notorious gang, which is why they are barred from the kingdom. Leopard swears never to follow her ancestors into villainy, but events push her to take up the Doronjo name and revive the gang in rebellion against the Yatterman, seeking real justice. The result is a comic sci-fi action adventure that turns the old heroes and villains around.
