It gets you in the gut before the magic ever shows up, because you already know how the new-school scene ends. Sori is the kid who does the right thing when nobody asked her to, and the movie is honest that being that kid paints a target on your back. Then the first letter turns up, and instead of another day of bracing for impact, she is following a paper trail into a whole world tucked under her middle school. The scavenger hunt structure keeps the story moving on curiosity rather than misery, which is why it never curdles into a bullying lecture. What lands hardest is smaller than the fantasy: a girl who kept being kind anyway, finally being met halfway.

Sori carries a gentleness that makes the world harder on her. Bullied at her old school for her kindness, she starts fresh at a new middle school hoping things might be different. Just as the old pattern seems ready to return, she finds a mysterious letter taped beneath her desk, and it points her to another. Each note leads her deeper into a secret world tucked between the ordinary hallways and classrooms she walks through every day. What begins as curiosity becomes an adventure that pulls her away from isolation and toward genuine connection. Along the way, she discovers that goodness hasn't disappeared from the people around her, that nature holds its own quiet magic, and that real friendship exists for those brave enough to seek it out. This is a story about a girl learning that the world contains more wonder than cruelty, and that sometimes all it takes to find it is following a mysterious path someone left behind.
