This is a franchise finally admitting what everyone already knew: the whole thing runs on two mascots and their snack addictions. Jibanyan has been a Chocobo fiend since the day a truck ended his cat life, and Komasan has never once looked at soft serve without going full country-boy starstruck, so pitting the chocolate bar against the ice cream cone is the only conflict either of them would ever take seriously. The premise is petty on purpose. A yo-kai deletes two shops from town and makes the red cat and the white komainu fight over which one comes back, and both of them absolutely rise to the bait. It runs on Komasan's "Monge!" and Jibanyan's flailing paws rather than any attempt at stakes. If you grew up watching these two lose arguments to their own appetites, you already know how you feel about it.

Jibanyan's favorite sweets shop and Komasan's beloved soft-serve ice cream parlor suddenly disappear from town, and the treats themselves begin vanishing from the world. A mysterious yokai is responsible, and it tells the pair that the only way to bring them back is to face off against each other. While the two square up, Hovernyan and Komasan's spy sister Komami investigate and uncover a larger conspiracy behind the incident, along with a looming crisis involving Lord Emma, the most powerful being in the Yokai World. The result is a comedic supernatural movie built around a showdown over snacks.
