This isn't a nostalgia trap dressed up in anniversary padding. It's a love letter to the actual game as it exists now, not the version you remember, with animation that makes Fallen of Albaz summons hit like they matter. The opening pulls you back to that original series feeling for exactly long enough to remind you why you cared, then it shows you what 25 years of competitive deckbuilding actually looks like. For anyone who stuck with the card game past the anime, this one knows who you are.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game: The Chronicles is a single-episode ONA released in 2024 to mark 25 years of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game. Beyond the celebration, the short serves as a showcase for Konami's new animation department, moving through several different themes and a range of animation styles. It is a demo reel of what the studio can do, not a preview of upcoming shows, and it draws on action and fantasy imagery along the way.
