This is a virtual idol who moves like a person, not an avatar pretending to be one. Each episode treats her as real enough to have a secret worth keeping. Kenichi Kutsugi built something that shouldn't work on paper, a non-existent girl in six disconnected stories, and somehow made her feel like she's already lived a thousand lives you're just now discovering.
Yuki Terai is Japan's top virtual idol, a computer-animated performer created by animator Kenichi Kutsugi. Though she does not exist, she is a lively seventeen-year-old living just outside Tokyo, with expressions and movement that look remarkably lifelike. This OVA collection presents six short, standalone stories, each showing a different side of her across everyday, science fiction and musical worlds. In one she plays a sensual songbird. In another, named after her mischievous robot dog Dos/Chin, she turns to her artistic side. She looks back on happier days in a reflective piece, becomes a martial-arts bandit in a Matrix-style caper, and finds herself pursued by reflections that seem to step out of mirrors. In the last story, she must beat the clock when her space freighter is set to self-destruct.
