Chika gets rejected, tears up her plans, and lets strangers on the internet decide where she goes next, and somehow that surrender is more honest than any structured narrative could be. The show doesn't perform healing at you; it just shows you a woman learning that inspiration isn't something you chase down, it's something that finds you when you stop trying so hard. She discovers her story by living someone else's every episode, one small town and one local conversation at a time.

Chika Suzugamori is an 18-year-old newcomer manga artist who has three drafts rejected in a single day. Her editor suggests she work her own interests into her manga, but Chika is a homebody who thinks about nothing but manga. Wanting to get away from it all, she posts an online poll on a whim and lets the results send her by train north from Tokyo on an unplanned solo trip. Standing atop Mount Haguro, she finds herself refreshed and more motivated than before. From there she resolves to keep traveling around Japan with friends old and new, whatever happens to her future pitches. The result is a comedic, easygoing travel story mixed with moments of drama, and it draws on the real travels of the mangaka Chika Suzugamori.
