Haijima burns with the kind of volleyball hunger that makes you forget this isn't about winning nationals. Kuroba's hands shake under pressure, so Haijima spends the entire show trying to steady them. Two childhood friends rebuilt from scratch, learning that talent without trust is just individual ego dressed up as teamwork.

Kimichika Haijima, a gifted setter, returns home to Fukui after trouble in his Tokyo junior high volleyball club pushes him out. There he meets his childhood friend Yuni Kuroba again, a player with exceptional physical ability who falls apart when the pressure mounts. The two become an ace pairing, but a fight at their final middle school tournament splits them. Now enrolled at Seiin High School, they end up on the same volleyball team and have to repair their friendship. Alongside Oda, the passionate captain, and Aoki, the talented and blunt vice-captain, the once weak squad aims for the prefectural title and a spot at the Spring Tournament, with defending champions Fukuho Technical High School standing in the way.
