The show strips away everything but the question: what is 500 million years of nothing worth when your father dies in five? It's not philosophy. It's survival.

Part 2 is a short psychological TV release from 2024 made up of two episodes, the 13th and 14th of 5-Oku-nen Button. The franchise centers on a strange offer: pressing a button pays out one million yen, but the presser must first live through 500 million years alone in an empty void. When that span ends, every memory of it is wiped and the person returns to the exact moment they left, so the payout seems to arrive instantly. The earlier season introduced three siblings, five-year-old Tonio, fourteen-year-old Jaibi and seventeen-year-old Suneko, who cannot afford their father's hospital care when someone carrying the button appears before them.
