Anime Like 91 Days: Shoal of Time
This is what the main series earned but couldn't afford to show you. Three moments that rewrite why these men chose their paths, starting with Nero and Vanno as something other than corpses waiting to happen. The second story, Ganzo meeting Vincente, is the actual origin of the Vanetti family, told quietly in a bar with drinks getting colder. You watch a crime dynasty form from a single favor asked by the wrong person at the right time. The framing story finds Nero and Avilio alive and moving forward, which this OVA earns by spending its entire runtime on the weight of what came before it.
SYNOPSIS
Three separate moments weave together to paint the underbelly of Lawless before everything falls apart. In the first, Nero and Vanno drag a reluctant Frate away from his religious duties to catch the circus, a brief glimpse of boyish freedom before the weight of their world catches up. Elsewhere, veteran Ganzo crosses paths with a mysterious stranger named Vincente at a dimly lit bar, where a simple request becomes the thread that unravels something larger. Finally, as Nero and Avilio return from their confrontation with Mad Mack, fever grips Nero's body and mind. Trapped between delirium and consciousness, he's cared for by the one person who's seen him at his most vulnerable. These interconnected vignettes form a portrait of loyalty, desperation, and the fragile bonds holding this criminal underworld together. Each story reveals what these men are willing to sacrifice for one another, even as fate closes in. It's quieter than the main series, more introspective, letting the characters breathe before everything changes.
