A guy drinks a soda can and a girl falls out. The show commits fully to this premise without winking at the camera. Every episode treats the absurd, aluminum versus steel warfare, a sentient beverage hierarchy, a romance that starts with accidental vore, as genuine stakes worth emotional investment, which is exactly why the weirdness lands instead of collapses.

Kakeru Daichi, a 16-year-old high schooler who has never had a girlfriend, collects rare juice cans. When his lips touch a can of melon soda, it turns into a pretty girl he names Melon. She is an Akikan, a living can built to battle other Akikan in a secret government experiment meant to settle whether steel or aluminum makes the better container. Melon's steel body depends on carbon dioxide to survive, so Kakeru is stuck with her. Things grow messier when more Akikan girls turn up and his wealthy childhood friend Najimi gets an aluminum Akikan of her own. The result is a silly fantasy romantic comedy with plenty of ecchi humor built on a deliberately absurd premise.
