A 1996 OVA that treats the internet like a place you can actually die in, built on retrofuture aesthetics so specific they feel like corrupted memory. The first episode's animation holds up because it takes itself seriously in a way 90s tie-in media almost never did. The plot collapses under its own confusion by episode two, but by then you're already invested in four girls fighting in a cyberspace that looks like it was designed by someone who understood modems better than narrative structure.

In the 21st century, criminal Cyberanarchists begin turning up in the Cyberland, the name given to the enormous computer networks of the era. To fight them, the enigmatic Lucia pulls Alice, Miss Catnick, Leina and Julie into the Cyberland and makes them a squad of young girl soldiers against the lawbreakers. The result is a two-episode sci-fi action OVA from 1996. Only the first episode came out on home video.
