It gets you with patience, not spectacle. One episode, no arc structure, no swelling orchestral manipulation, just the plainest possible telling of the dog who kept showing up at Shibuya Station for an owner who was never getting off that train again. The animation is modest and it does not matter, because the whole thing runs on repetition: the same platform, the same crowd, the same hope, aging in place. Everyone knows how Hachiko ends before pressing play, which should defuse it and instead makes every return trip land heavier. Calm, unhurried, and then it quietly takes your legs out. Watch it alone, because you will not want a witness for the last few minutes.

Based on true events, this biography follows Hachiko, a dog whose devotion to his owner endures even after that owner has died.
