Graphinica animates Naomi's quiet devastation across three timelines with such precision that watching her choose between versions of herself becomes unbearably human. The movie gives you the plot. A short science fiction spinoff in three episodes, told from the viewpoint of Naomi ten years in the future. The episodes are labeled as records of the years 2027, 2032 and 2036. Back in high school, shy Naomi Katagaki and the cold, blunt Ruri Ichigyou seem like complete opposites, yet a shared love of books slowly brings them together. Naomi comes to see a gentler side of her, confesses, and Ruri gladly returns his feelings. Their happiness ends when a lightning strike leaves Ruri in a coma, and Naomi commits to bringing her back to her ordinary life whatever it takes.
