The 3D animation here doesn't look like a video game cutscene the way early 2000s CG does, it moves like something real, which makes the combat feel like you're watching a technical masterclass in how bodies collide with physics. Deunan and Briareos work like a couple that has already survived everything, so when a new Bioroid threatens the certainty between them, it's not melodrama, it's the erosion of something that was supposed to be permanent.
