Cyress is a peaceful planet until terrorists slip past its planetary defenses and attack, turning ordinary scenes of daily life into smoke and flame. As the military struggles to work out what happened, the group, called Solomon and led by Duran Gash, seizes seven PDP missiles, each powerful enough to wipe out a whole planet. With those weapons, Solomon can hold entire worlds hostage. Jim Hyatt is chosen to lead a team on a mission that seems impossible: rescue the hostages and either recover or destroy the missiles. The trouble is that the members of his team do not much like one another.
