Backstage Idol Story brings the real-life idol group BiS into animated form, splitting each episode into two halves. The first drops viewers into the dressing room, where the members trade complaints and gripes about the messier side of idol life: overzealous fans, worn-out underwear, and the general indignities of the job. The second half shifts into an unscripted round-table chat with a guest along for the ride. There is no grand plot here, just idols being candid about the grind behind the glamour, played for laughs rather than sentiment.
