The animation throws every visual idea at the screen and most of them stick, which is all that matters when the plot is basically "what if the Yakuza looked like the Justice League and also floated over Gotham." Batman Ninja already proved you don't need coherence if your backgrounds are this gorgeous and your action sequences move like someone finally let animators have actual fun. This sequel knows exactly what it is: dumb, gorgeous, and committed to looking cool while making zero sense, which is the only way to make a Batman movie that doesn't take itself seriously.

In this sequel to Batman Ninja, Batman and his family come back to the present day and find that Japan has vanished. In its place, an enormous island called Hinomoto floats in the sky above Gotham City.
