The animation moves like nothing else from 1997, treating gymnastics and sprinting like they're supernatural spectacles. Every competition invents its own physics just to justify what the animators wanted to draw that week. Akari's journey from underdog to contender matters less than watching her friends become real rivals, then something closer than that.
In the year 4999, humanity has given up war and settles its contests between worlds through athletics instead. Among these events is a competition for women whose winner earns the title of Cosmic Beauty. Akari Kanzaki enrolls at University Satellite hoping to claim that honor, which her mother once held. Her first days there bring new friendships, tough rivals and a hard struggle to rise above everyone else. The six OVA episodes mix sports action with science fiction, comedy and ecchi fanservice.
