Staz's obsession with Japan finally has a purpose beyond comedy, he's genuinely motivated to break the rules of death itself for someone who can actually appreciate his interests. The OVA leans harder into what made the series work: a vampire mob boss whose criminal empire means nothing compared to finding someone to talk anime with. This is Blood Lad at its most honest about what Staz actually wants.

Staz and Fuyumi are on their way to Acropolis in the demon world when she once again has to drink his blood to keep from vanishing, and she begins to grow addicted to it. At the same time, a misguided group of vampire hunters who call themselves Team Fearless sets its sights on Staz. He holds his own against them at first, but a silver weapon strikes him mid-fight and takes away his power to heal, and Fuyumi is carried off. Weakened but undeterred, Staz goes after the group at its headquarters. The single-episode OVA of the Blood Lad series mixes action, comedy and the supernatural, and it was packaged with the tenth limited-edition volume of the manga.
