The camera holds on the pan long enough that you stop waiting for something to happen and start actually watching the heat work. By the time he sits down to eat, you understand why someone spent weeks animating this instead of anything louder.

On a winter morning, an elderly man cooks a rolled egg dish for breakfast. He pours the whisked egg into a pan, where it starts to bubble, while the sun rises over the coastal town and bathes everything in a warm gold glow. The film was made in 2023 as a first-year project in the animation department of the Tokyo University of the Arts graduate film school.
