The animation is so aggressively committed to its own vision that it doesn't matter if you hate Arajin, you're watching anyway, just to see what impossible thing the next frame will pull off. The fight choreography treats movement like calligraphy, every punch weighted and deliberate. But fair warning: the main character is genuinely insufferable, a pathetic simp whose obsession makes him hard to root for, so this only works if you came for the spectacle, not the story.

Arajin Tomoshibi transfers to Ichizu High School, where two rival gangs, Minato Kai and Siguma Squad, are locked in a bitter struggle for power. He wants no part of it and would rather find a girlfriend, and he ends up seated beside Mahoro Jin, the prettiest girl in class, who seems to like him. Her protective older brother Marito leads Siguma Squad, though, and Arajin's childhood friend Matakara Asamine belongs to Minato Kai. Arajin also accidentally awakens Senya, a genie from ancient legend, who lends him power that lets him stand up to Marito. That only makes both gangs keener to recruit him, and a third gang soon joins the turf war. The result is supernatural action built around high school gang fights.
