Ko and Nazuna spend their nights together without understanding what they're feeling, and the show lets that confusion hang in the air like smoke. Season 2 trades the wandering chill of season one for something sharper, more desperate, two people trying to solve love like a puzzle while the city's neon and purple shadows close in around them. The animation moves like breathing, the Creepy Nuts tracks hit at exactly the moment your chest gets tight, and by the end you realize the show wasn't about vampires at all.

Ko Yamori, a 14-year-old boy, has worked through his confusion about becoming a vampire and chooses to "like" Nazuna Nanakusa, while she resolves to make him truly fall in love with her. Neither of them really knows what love is, yet they spend their nights together in a whirl. His friends Mahiru and Akira are slowly coming to accept that vampires exist and that Ko intends to become one. Meanwhile, Detective Anko Uguisu closes in on Nazuna and her coven, determined to kill vampires beyond Nazuna alone. A vampire's weakness is whatever they were attached to as a human, so the vampires hurry to rid themselves of it. Nazuna, however, remembers nothing of her human life, and to protect her, Ko must uncover her past. Why Anko hunts vampires, and what secret she shares with Nazuna, remain open questions in this supernatural romantic comedy.
