A young boy and his pet white elephant drift across the water one day and come to rest on a quiet, peaceful island. Their calm new home soon ends up trapped between two bigger islands that are at war with each other. Released in 1977, this fantasy musical feature was Sanrio's first animated film and is adapted from a story by Takashi Yanase. Its look is bright, bold and cartoonish, with a light-hearted surface that still carries a serious theme underneath, and its animation is vivid and carefully made. The result aims to delight young children as well as devoted fans of animation.
