A kid's desperate prayer gets answered literally, and the show treats that miracle like a normal Tuesday. Haruma doesn't get a sister to fix his life or complete some grand narrative, he gets a tiny girl who needs him to be a parent when he's barely an adult himself. The comedy comes from real domesticity, the drama from watching someone figure out love isn't about the fantasy you prayed for, it's about showing up when the person in front of you needs breakfast. This is what it looks like when wishes come true and you have to actually live with them.
Haruma Kawagoe grew up as an only child. Long ago, around Christmas, his mother miscarried the baby who would have been his little sister. That night the young Haruma knelt and prayed with all his heart for his mother to get better and for a little sister of his own. Years go by and he has almost forgotten that prayer, but Santa has not. One Christmas, when Haruma least expects it, he receives an unusual gift: a sister named Choko. Adapted from a manga by Zappa Gou and Takeuchi Sakura, the show mixes comedy, drama and romance.
