The premise is absurd on its face. A middle-aged salaryman turns into a robot, and the show treats it like a real problem the family has to solve. Shin-chan's chaos meets domestic crisis, and somehow that collision creates something funnier than either could be alone. The movie doesn't wink at the audience about how stupid the setup is. It commits completely, lets Shinnosuke run circles around a malfunctioning robot-dad, and finds genuine heart in the wreckage.
After hurting his back, Shinnosuke's father Hiroshi accepts a free beauty treatment and massage at a salon, led there by a mysterious young woman, and comes home to find he has become a robot. Shinnosuke is thrilled while Misae is worried, but robot Hiroshi proves handy, running on a remote control and taking care of chores like cooking and cleaning. Hiroshi soon suspects the salon is behind his transformation. The catch: someone orchestrated this change, and they're not done yet. The Nohara household finds itself caught up in a scheme by a group of fathers that threatens far more than just one man's body, as dads across Japan lose control and Kasukabe begins to fall apart. Shinnosuke and his robot dad set out to save the day in this comedy film. Family bonds get tested in the most ridiculous way possible.
