Shin-chan uproots his entire life and moves to Mexico, which means the show gets to blow up its own formula instead of repeating it. The comedy doesn't come from a new setting; it comes from watching a character designed for one specific Japanese neighborhood suddenly exist everywhere else. A movie that knows its own joke well enough to dismantle it.

The Nohara family is leaving Japan behind. Hiroshi's company sends him to run its Mexico branch, where he is to harvest a new kind of cactus prized for its unusually sweet nectar. So the family packs up and says a tearful goodbye to their friends and the people of Kasukabe. Shinnosuke is thrilled by the idea, having heard that the girls in Mexico are fashionable and pretty. Life in their new town comes with plenty of worries and a cast of colorful neighbors, but nobody expects the flesh-eating killer cacti that are about to strike. To protect the town, the Noharas and their neighbors join forces against the Killer Cactus in this feature-length comedy.
