Shin-chan gets dumped in a nature reserve and decides the whole ecosystem is his personal kingdom to conquer. The comedy isn't trying to be smart or make a point. It's just a kid being exactly the level of stupid and perverse you've come to expect, except now he's doing it to animals, plants, and whatever else gets in his way. If you've watched Shin-chan for more than five minutes, you already know if this lands or doesn't.
The seventeenth Crayon Shin-chan movie revolves around a drink that turns humans into animals. Hiroshi, Shinnosuke's father, ends up a chicken after taking it, and the boy's mother a panther. The drink belongs to a plan launched by Mamoru Shizan, who is new as mayor of Futaba Town in Kasukabe. He champions ecology activities, yet he in fact leads SKBE, short for Save Keeping Beautiful Earth, an eco-terrorist organization. To stop the plan, the Nohara family fights SKBE together with Victoria, a woman of mystery, and with members of the Kasukabe Defense Force who are half animalized. The comic action adventure caricatures radical eco-activism, and its theme is the bond that ties a mother to her children.
