The animation leap from the first film is immediate and undeniable, movement flows where it stuttered before, and the backgrounds breathe with actual depth instead of feeling painted on. The dinosaur robots are absurd, but the film knows it, building set pieces around that pulp energy rather than fighting it. It follows the same formula as its predecessor, which means if you wanted more 009, you get exactly that, just prettier, faster, and with better bones underneath.

Black Ghost, a villainous organization, is attacking places around the world with giant robots built in the shape of plesiosaur-like dinosaurs, and the monsters use sound waves against people and cities. The cyborgs who once rebelled against the group and escaped it have been living quiet lives in different countries. Dr. Isaac Gilmore suspects Black Ghost is behind the attacks and hurries to bring the team of nine back together. Joe Shimamura, known as Cyborg 009, leads them. A mysterious girl named Helena, who says the monster's attacks left her an orphan, joins the effort. Aboard the Dolphin, a submersible aircraft fitted with anti-ultrasound weapons and defenses, the cyborgs set out to track down the monster and find Black Ghost's new base. This 1967 sci-fi action adventure is the second Cyborg 009 movie.
