The Neo-Black Ghosts built killing machines. Cyborg 009 is about nine cyborgs deciding to be something else entirely. That choice, made over and over again across fifty episodes, is what makes this show matter.

Nine people are tricked and forced by the evil organization Neo-Black Ghost into becoming cyborgs, built to serve its interests. They refuse to become the group's killing machines, and with Dr. Gilmore guiding them, the nine escape. Joe Shimamura, known as Cyborg 009, is one of them. Each cyborg carries a special power, including melting any material, breathing underwater and flying. Banding together, the team turns those powers against their former captors and against injustice wherever it appears, in an action and sci-fi adventure.
