Kyoma hates coils on principle, but he's built from them, the show knows this contradiction is the entire point. Mira arrives as pure android innocence in a world that treats her like illegal contraband, and their partnership becomes a slow argument about what counts as human. The cyberpunk world-building is confident enough to let visual style do half the storytelling, and it commits hard to that bet in ways most shows won't risk.
By 2071, humanity appears to have solved its energy problems through coils, devices that draw power from Dimension W, a fourth plane beyond the familiar three. One corporation, New Tesla Energy, dominates the industry, and unofficial coils have begun flooding the market, giving their users powers the police cannot counter. Kyoma Mabuchi, a former soldier so wary of coil technology that he still drives a gas-powered car, works as a Collector, tracking down illegal coils for money. A routine job changes when he runs into Mira, an android linked to the man regarded as the father of coils. As strange events pile up, the two form a reluctant partnership and set out to uncover the mysteries of Dimension W in this action science fiction series.
